"Oh Such a Perfect Day" details

When I saw these steps in White Park, I asked Bob to take my picture on them. I envisioned adding my journaling to the steps in the photo. The lyrics to the song fit perfectly. Bob took the photo with a long lens to compress the image even more. I used a white font so the words would be easier to see on the wooden steps.

Scrap Yourself A-Z, the Letter "O": Oh Such a Perfect Day

What we are or how we feel largely depends on the people who support us. At work when customers ask if I run the cafeteria, I always reply, "we all do", it takes us all. My happiness, my creativity, largely comes from my family and Bob. I love my time off with him when I get recharged. This was one of those days. The song is on the new Susan Boyle CD, "the Gift".

The Letter "N" - New Years Goals!

G' Day everyone!

Can you believe that we are almost into December? Most of us start thinking about what our plans are for next year, what we want to achieve and maybe what we want to change. I am not too keen on the word "Resolution" and much prefer the more positive phrase of New Years Goals. I have used Kaiser papers, which are one of my fav brands, for this LO, I just loved the colours of this collection.

So here are mine: I have been working hard the last 4 years to complete my qualifications in Social Welfare and have needed to cut back over the last two years due to my pregnancy with Jake and family commitments. This means that I HAVE to finish next year. It will be a big year for me, and will mean that we, as a family, will need to make some sacrifices, but I know the results will outweigh that in the future.

I have also found that after this pregnancy I have not got back into shape quite as easily as with the others, and this is going to take some planned excersise time for me.

Also Paul and I are planning a trip to to parts of Australia that we haven't yet been - such as a visit to Ayres Rock ( Without the kids) - we haven't had a hol by ourselves for about 8 years and this is all I want for my 30th !

I have had the paint for our bedroom for over a year which is sitting in the laundry waiting... So this will be done next year!

They are my goals for 2011 - what are yours??

Happy Scrapping!

Kathleen

The Letter "M"

For today I got the letter “M”. I decided to do a page titled Mysteries of Me.

I have to admit that I have a hard time opening up to people, I usually don´t talk about my problems, fears or sadness…So yes, I do have some little mysteries, LOL. Inside the envelope I wrote little notes about the last time I cried, the last time I prayed, the last time I felt really happy, about a brave moment, and other bits and pieces that I usually don´t talk about.

Journaling on the envelope reads:
“Usually few people know what´s really going on in my life. I guess I don´t trust people that much anymore, and I prefer to keep thing to myself…With time, I have learned how to hide things. Sometimes, I may look very happy on the outside, but inside I’m really suffering... Inside, you´ll find some little mysteries of me.”
For this layout I used mainly the Crate Paper Restoration line, I think it fits the topic perfectly, I´m really happy with how this layout turned out, I hope you like it too!

So what little mysteries do you have? Maybe you could create a layout about those little things people don´t know about you. Thanks for looking, hope you´re having a great weekend.

The letter "L"

This is the day for the letter "L".
And today my chosen title for this theme is "Lip gloss mania".
Okay...I admit I'm dependent by my Lip gloss.
I have them everywhere. In my handbag, in my pocket, in my bathroom, in the glove compartment in my car and even in my locker at work.
Can I get to many.......NO I don't think so.

Here is my layout:

I have used papper from Graphic 45, stamps from Catlifepress and a handbag charm.

See you next time!

Have a nice day!

THE LETTER "K"

This time my letter was "K".
I thought over and over again about K...K
and finally I decided to choose a word "kiss" related to letter "K".

The photo which shows one shot of our wedding
which was held four years ago.
It is very valuable photo
because normally most Japanense do not take such spot photo.

I summarized for my layout which is cordinated green color
by cutting paper of webster'spage.

I think that everyone has once expericed to design for layout
by using photo of your wedding .
In my case I have made it every year.

I wish you will design for layout by photo of your wedding
as much as you can.

I appreciate your observing and have a nice weekend!!!

The Letter J

Hello everyone! I am so excited to be part of the A-Z challenge and this is my first post here too!

Today is the letter ‘J’ and when I first received this assigned alphabet, the first thing that came to my mind is this title “Just Me”.

This is because this is the reason that attracted me wanting to be part of the scrap yourself team and therefore it ought to be something that is related to me. So I am sharing a little something about myself today.

Journalling wrote: “ I am a day dreamer and this is ” complete with the title “Just me”.

Hope you all like what I have shared today. Do create and share something about yourself too!

The Letter “G”

Hi everyone,

I am thrilled and a little nervous about showing my first layout for the Scrap Yourself A-Z challenge.
When I got the letter “G” as my challenge, I knew I had to do something related to my name. For a long time, I´ve wanted to scrap about the meaning of my name and the emotional significance it has for me and my family (especially for my mother). I was named after my grandmother, who passed away when my mom was only 9 years old. She was a gorgeous lady (Miss Bolivia back here), she was loved and respected by everyone, a very hard worker and a very kind person.

When I was born, my parents decided to name me after her. In the past I´ve had mixed feelings about my name, I thought it wasn´t cool enough and that it sounded a little “oldish”…Throughout the years, I´ve learned to love my name, the meaning behind it is so powerful, and the descriptions of my name fits my personality perfectly.

If you haven’t yet, I challenge you to scrap about your name, the meaning behind it and how you feel about it.

Thanks for looking.
Have a great day!

The letter "F"

Now it's time for me to blog my first post at Scrap Yourself.
And today it's the letter "F" in focus.....

After thinking long and hard about a theme for the letter "F", I found out that the theme for my layout would be about my Fabulous Fridays.

I really loves my Fridays. It's the last day of my working week and also the beginning of an expectant weekend with my dear family. When I get home from my work I light candles and pour a glass of wine, while I or my husband cook a nice dinner and the children set the table nicely.

Fridays are the DAY when my whole family gathers around the dinner table and just ENJOY being. What's your favorite day?

The background paper is from my favorite collection "My Mind's Eye" lost and found. And the other papers is from my box with small leftovers of papers.

That's all from me to day!

Have a nice day!

The Letter "E"

Happy Friday!

I hope you've enjoyed learning more about the Scrap Yourself Design Team this week as we began our A-Z challenge.

I put together this layout entitled "Education First" for my "E" creation. I used the lovely Echo Park "A Walk in the Park" collection with a mix of Prima and crocheted flowers.

The journaling reads:
Education was my first priority throughout my college years at St. Michael's. I was proud and honored when I was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, joining less than one percent of college graduates nationwide.
April 15, 2005.
"Love of learning is the guide of life"

School has always been such an important part of my life, and I've loved it since it was very little. Now as a teacher, I still believe in the importance of school and that education comes first.

Have a great weekend!

The Letter "D" - Day in my life.

G'day everyone!

I am very excited and a little nervous ( truth be told) about my first posting here at Scrap Yourself!

I challenged myself to journal everything that I did for a day - yesterday, and even used a pic from yesterday too!. I look back on this and wonder how I possibly achieve so much in one day! Our life is a full of fun and energy, always changing, busy time, and I wanted to reflect this in this LO by adding LOTS of embellishments, and layers.

I will also try this again by doing another LO on what a weekend is like in our home, the routines (swimming, basketball, coffee out on Sunday's, family dinners, etc..) so that our children can look back and reflect on what their weekends were like when they were younger. Why not try this idea yourselves?

Happy Scrapping.

The Letter "C"

"Creating is Life"

This Layout is a bit different..... I have taken a free form approach to this one. I wanted to play with inks, pen and watercolors. The photo on the bottom is a sample of a glass piece that I created.

There is not a day that goes by that I am not doing something with my hands.

I believe that creativity is powerful and should be nurtured everyday. Sometimes trying something new feels uncomfortable. But the more you try it you get the hang of it and you are off and going.

Face the brilliance of your most wonderful Creations and Dwell on your dreams.

Thank you for viewing and Enjoy-!

Scrap Yourself-the Letter "B" (Boston 'Beauty')

This is my first assignment for the design team challenge "Scrap Yourself A-Z".

When team leader Chalese asked me to do the letter "B" I was in Boston. . . so I knew I could do something centered around my time there. Here's my layout:

"Queen for a day, fairy tale princess, homecoming court. What little girl doesn't dream of these? Waking up, I don't think I could have handled the spotlight. . . but in Boston, attending the Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo, I became Queen at the pistachio exhibit. Adorned with my sash, holding my scepter and sitting on the throne, I loved every minute of it. 2010"

Sounds like another theme in the making...scrap places you've been A-Z!

Digital frame (Two Peas in a Bucket Sande Krieger "French Laundry Fall Photo Edges")

The Letter "A"

Greetings!

I am so thrilled to be back at Scrap Yourself for another term! I hope you'll join the new Design Team as we spend the next few weeks scrapping ourselves from A to Z. I chose to share a bit about myself using the first letter of the alphabet, the letter A. My "A" layout is entitled "Andover Cheerleader" and features a photo of me from my high school cheerleading days.

Cheerleading was a big part of my life during this time and I loved every minute of it. Even though a decade has passed since this time, I am still a cheerleader at heart! I used October Afternoon's Report Card line for this layout, and enjoyed making my own cheerleading uniform on a chipboard dress form. I gave the photo a 3D look by cutting out an identical picture of myself and layering the cut-out on top of the original photo with a foam square.

Stay with us and get to know the DT as we continue to scrap ourselves from A to Z.

Happy scrapping!

Meet the Team

My name is Jenny Ã…hlund and live in Sweden together with my husband, our doughter, son and two guinna pigs, witch are my doughters dearest thing.

I have been hooked up for scrap since 2007 and it was my dear freind who introduced me to this fabulous world. I love challenges and like to try new techniques and often read the internet blogs to look for new ideas. In maj 2010 we moved in to our dream house where my husband build me my own studio in our living room, so I always can be near them, even when I scrap.
Everyday, I try to find some time and space for my self. I think it's important for everyone to find something that they do, just because you love it and for no other reason.
My own space is my scrapbooking and I always say:

- Scrap is like BALM to your SOUL
I'm so happy to be a part of this team and have the opportunity to scrap about my self. Looking forward to inpire you all together with this wonderful team.

I'm a 25 year old Norwegian woman. No kids, but three cats. I am doing my masters in Art- and Cultural Sciences, and this year is the year I'm supposed to write my thesis, the topic of which is the science-fiction series Caprica - relating it to cyborg theory and feminist theory (more details when it's done).
Scrapbooking was introduced into my life two and a half years ago. At first I thought of it as a "housewife's hobby" and didn't really wanna try, but a friend convinced me and I love it! I've been working at a local scrapbook store for the past year, but just resigned this week because I got a temp position at a high school, teaching Norwegian and English, starting next term! (I sure hope I get my thesis done on time...)
My style is very eclectic, but I guess it could best be described as "graphic". I'm a bit scared of using flowers on a page, and although I have been to classes teaching the vintage style, I don't use it myself. I like every style of scrapbooking, though, and I love the notion of scrapbooking yourself. It's important not to forget ourselves and how we experience our life while we are so busy scrapping everyone else!
I also design for Scrapshop.no and Gutter Girlz, and you can find my blog at papirdiva.wordpress.com.

Hello! My name is Alia, and I am beyond thrilled to be back crafting and creating for a second term here at Scrap Yourself! I am 28 years old and live in Massachusetts. I am an elementary school teacher, currently teaching fifth grade at the school I attended as a child. When I am not teaching, I enjoy scrapbooking, photography, reading, organizing, traveling, decorating, and studying Arabic.

I began scrapbooking in 2005 when I returned from one of many trips to visit my family in Egypt. I had taken a few hundred pictures and decided I wanted to do something special with them. I roamed into a craft store and came out with lots of goodies to make my first scrapbook. The rest is history! I am primarily an 8.5x11 scrapper who loves to creatively document travel adventures as well as favorite every day moments and special times with friends and family. My top three favorite scrapping items are bows, Thickers, and border punches.

I hope you'll join us here at Scrap Yourself to take on some of the great challenges we have in store!

Hi!My name is Yuko Tanaka.
I live in Japan with hasband and two cats.
I began scrapbooking taking advantage of having got married in 2007.
My hobby is scrapbooking and going out with a hasnband and taking a photograpy
We have no children.
So I like letting a layout reflect about "myself"

But it is sometimes stimulated in a pretty smile and a wonderful expression of the children of my younger sister and can make layout
I like cutting a paper delicately and used a mist and acrylic paints .

Scrap booking is one part of my life.

I am the addict of that!
I regard getting used to Scrap Yourself at a member as honorable!

My name is Cindy. I am married to a photojournalist, Bob Gay. We met in the darkroom 37 years ago.
We have 2 sons, Greg (23) and Chris (17). I am a registered dietitian and manager of the Healthy Cafe
at university hospitals. I love to scrapbook.
I made my first scrapbook in the 50s, cutting pictures of movie stars out of magazines and pasting them onto pages.
I still love to cut and paste. I am a hybrid scrapbooker, using digital elements like journaling blocks, frames and brushes on my layouts. . . . and lots of pictures!
I am pictured here with various scrapbooks from the decades. The one I'm holding was from summer of 1964.
My blog is: cindyspagesintime.blogspot.com

I have been with my partner Aaron for seven years and we have a beautiful son. I am a professional Full Time Glass Artist currently living in Salt Lake City. I do gallery openings to show my work as well I am commissioned nationally for my large scale works. I also teach Kilnformed glass classes with the University of Utah continuing education as well in my private studio.

I have been "scrapbooking" most of my life in the form of journaling and my sketch pad. I have to say that I enjoy Scraping and tend to have several styles that I work in. I really love making backgrounds in ink and watercolor then layering images by applying paint and ink to drawings or doodles on the surface. I also love to make pop ups with paper, 3D flowers and such.

Thank you for the opportunity. I am excited and looking forward to this experience

Hello ! My name is Winnie Chia and I am from Singapore! I began scrapping a few years back and since then I am very much in love with this hobby of mine! I loves all the pretty papers, ribbons, buttons, flowers and etc. I loves to experiment and to try out all the different styles of scrapping and often not it largely dependent on my mood and the photos that I am scrapping. Sometimes I love it to be super messy with tons of embellishments, misting and paints but yet sometimes I just want it to be really simple and clean! Sometimes I like it to be very girly with many flowers too! So there isn't really a define scrapping style that I adopt, so long as the completed LO is pleasing to my eye and it should be fine! Nevertheless, completed LO makes me happy and I believe that every LO speaks a thousand of words and it brings us back to the memories that we once had.
I am so glad to be part of the team and I can't wait to inspire you to scrap about yourself for the next 3 months. :)

TIA
I've been scrapbooking for about 5 years.  What first drew me to scrapbooking was the paper, they are so beautiful right?!?  I wanted to put a square of each one all over my walls.  I also love to alter different items, so you will see things other than scapbook pages on my blog too.  I have 3 girls, Karma 6, Veraty 4, and Xela (sounds like Shayla) is 2.  I know what your thinking, "ah that poor girl is gonna have a horrible time in school with a name spelled like that," ya i know, blame my husband!  I've been married to my hubby, Micah, for 10 years in March and he is such an awesome daddy and husband.  I absolutely love my family although at time I would like to kick my husband in the shins and sell my kids on Ebay, hahaha!  (who doesn't right?)  I'm so very excited to be apart of this design team, its my first one and I hope you all like my work.
 Happy scrapping!

I saw some layout ideas and knew I would love to do something similar. I forgot all about cross stitching and bouth a whole lot of SB materials..Since then I have been in love with scrapbooking. Since this hobby is almost unknown here, I have to do my shopping online or once a year when I go on vacations to the USA

Hi Everyone! I live with my three beautiful children and my husband, in Melbourne , Australia. We live quite close to the beach and spend a great deal of time there, especially over summer. I have been scrapping for roughly 4 years after my friend showed me some of her great pages, and I haven’t looked back since. I love colour, patterns and texture in my pages and I am quite often found playing with inks, paint and any new products I can get my hands on. This is the first design team I have joined and I am very excited to get started and to meet some new scrappers as I go.

Have a happy day!
