Such a Pretty Butterfly

As you know, the challenge for us this week here at Scrap-Yourself is to scrap with butterflies. I decided to interpret the challenge a bit differently: I created a page all about a special little butterfly I found while on a walk with my daughter.
As you can see, the butterfly is the subject of my layout instead of just an accent. I was so happy when Chalese announced this challenge. I love using butterflies on my pages, but what I love even more is getting to see one in real life. For some reason, seeing them around where I live seems to be a rarity, so it is a very special occasion when I spot one. What about you? Do these beauties flutter around where you live? If so, then try to snap a picture. You won't regret it!

Have a lovely day!

Fly on the Wings of love....

Hi everyone,

The theme this week is Come fly with me..... All about butterflies. I listen to many different kinds of music so the first thing that came to my mind as I got to know the theme were the words "Fly on the Wing of love".

"Fly on the Wings of love" is the title of the Danish winning song from the Eurovision Song Contest 2000 in Stockholm, Sweden. It's a song about the greatest love between two people, that's why I decided to create a layout with my husband and I from one of our wedding anniversaries.

22 years ago we fell in love, and I can't image us not being together for the rest of our lives.

...... a close-up with some details

A couple of weeks ago I was at the Danish Scrapbooking Convention where I bought one of the new Bo Bunny series, Gabrielle, which I used for this layout. I think this series with all the butterflies was perfect for the theme this week so it certainly became a "must have". What do you think....Isn't Gabrielle beautiful?

Come fly with me..

Hi creative ladies!

Danielle here with a new challenge this week.. scrap with butterflies! I LOVE butterflies.. I always have a hard time not to include them on my layouts, so this was a total fun challenge for me. The thing was that I really wanted to focus on the butterfly, so I wanted to use a large single butterfly and add some focus to it. This layout is for my art journal/inspirational book. I used this gorgeous photo found on the internet and it points perfectly to the large butterfly.

I got it from my sweet mom who has a cricket and all these gorgeous shapes.. *jealous* but she is the sweetest for always sending me some of the new things she got.

I hope you like the challenge this week and I can't wait to see some  butterflies.. please show your layouts and link them in the comments, we would LOVE to see them!!

Have a great Sunday!

JUST ME

Just Me

Hey Now! Good morning to all!  I'm back again with a totally different layout from my usual (vintage, floral, feminine).  I truly love DISTRESSED, rustic, old world styles.  I achieved the look by using metal elements and painting the chipboard numerous shades of earth tones.  I accented the painted chipboard with copper Tattered Angels shimmer mist and applied Liquid Leaf in classic gold.  I just love those earth tones!  I have one room in my house full of distressed rustic accents.  Some cold days when leaving my house I throw on that distressed brown leather jacket and hat and I'm all set!

PEACE!

Find You, Be You

Hey Everyone.
I'm back with another LO to share for Scrap Yourself.
I'm so in love with the pink and the whole feel about this LO.
The beautiful papers you see here are by Websters Pages, a bit of AC and a bit of DCWV.
lots of fussy cutting here. :)
And the beautiful Resin Flowers you see below are by Prima.
Aren't they adorable. I cant resist using them.
I bought more packets of these coz' I know I love them so much! :)
Amidst all the busyness in life, sometimes all we need to do is to just "Find You and Be You"
So go on..find yourself..and be yourself..
That way you be more calm, happy and satisfied with life.

Love knitting

When I started to think about a new theme for this weeks layout, I realized that I have never been scrapping about my other hobbies like making miniatures worlds or knitting.
I have been knitting for several years but how often I knit, goes in periods. The best thing about knitting is to start with a brand new knitting pattern with a bag full of brand new yarn.
So this layout is about my love for knitting:

I wrote the title with a bit of yarn. The same yarn as in the photo.

Some butterflies with crackle paint.

This is made with chipboard and Tim Holtz sizzix dies "Sewing room" and a lot of Holtz tissue tape.

Have a nice day!

Black and White with a Pop of Color - Taraleigh

Hello hello! With this challenge of black/white with a pop of color I want to share a little bit about how scrapbooking is therapeutic for me. Five years ago I was in a crazy car accident and I walked away from that event with only a minor burn on my wrist.

Journaling: It was my mom who said it. She was with me that day in January, 2006... The day my eyes were opened to see how short this life really is. But it wasn't my turn yet, which is why I live to tell the tale about the accident. I walked away from that event with only a minor burn on my wrist from the steering wheel. The car took the impact. Not me. And for that I could not be more grateful. January 26. 2006 is the day I defied tragedy.

I've had photos of the wrecked car for years and have never done anything with them until now. When I see this photo I am reminded of how short life really is and how we shouldn't take daily breath for granted. It helps me stay on track and keep moving forward. Its amazing how life experiences have such profound impacts on our lives. My "defying tragedy" moment is just one example of my many life experiences that shape who I am and how I live my life. Scrapbooking this layout helps me solidify the bare truth that I am blessed to be here, blessed to still be living.

I think there are a lot of people out there that scrapbook to save sanity, to be creative, and to serve as a source of therapy. I'm positive I am not the only one who has scrapbooked about a major life event. If you havent, give it a try. You will be amazed at the immense feeling of renewal it can bring! I know I am.

Have a wonderful day!

Black/White with a Pop of your Favorite Color....Mandy - Danielle

HELLO FRIENDS!

Today Danielle and I would like to share our awesome creations with you!

I decided to go with a pop of aqua in this "Glitz -N- Glam" layout.  The photo was taken in "1999" before my husband and I went to a New Years Eve Party.  We ended up partying like it was "1999"!!!  O'h yeah, it was!!LOL  I was refering to the song by "Prince".  Gotta love the 80's music!!!

ENJOY!

and on to Danielle....

I decided to create a layout of my favorite jeans! It took me a while to find it and I spend way too much money on several VERY expensive jeans.. but it is the $40 dollar one that fits perfectly and make me feel so comfortable..

I kept it simple this time.

Thank you for joining us and start scrapping yourself!

Tomorrow there will be another post using black and white with a pop of color!

Happy creating!

Black and White with a Pop of your Favorite Color with Kirsten and Jenny

Good morning everyone!

I have been SO excited to make the first post together with my lovely teammate and Swedish neighbour Jenny :-D

This week we are asked to create a layout only using black, white and a pop of our favorite color, actually I have more than one favorite color; all shades of blue, burnt red and all shades of purple.

When I look in my wardrobe it is obvious that a lot of my clothes are purple and I have a lot of pictures me wearing purple so I chose to create a layout with some of those pictures.

I don't care whether I use old or new stash when I'm scrapping as long as the things matches, so I found some oooold One Heart One Mind papers in my stash which I think are a perfect match for the pictures.

Why not create a layout using the challenge and leave a comment with a link to your blog, we would love to give you a comment.

Hugs,

Kirsten

- and now on to Jenny :-D

********

I have chosen to scrap about my own luxury. Every third week I go to a nail salon and make my nails. It's such a luxury to have that time for my self, to just sit down and do nothing while you been taken care of.

For my pop up color I have been chosen my favorite color.....pink.
Here is my layout:

Azura and I are teaming up today and we're excited to kick off this week's
black and white with a pop of your favorite color challenge!
I chose to use my favorite color, pink, as the accent color on this black and white page, "Happy Reflections of a Florida Vaca." I used a new template from Ideas for Scrapbookers for this layout.

Please keep scrolling down to see Azura's amazing work, and stop by every day this week to view more fabulous layouts by the Design Team!
Join us in the challenge by scrapping a layout using black and white with a pop of your favorite color.
Happy Monday!

Hey Everyone;
Azura here..
Here is my take on the black and white with a pop of your favorite color challenge.
Mine is titled "Calm"
I did a hidden journaling and slot it behind my pic with a sort of paper clip.

The jounaling reads;
Admist all the hustle and bustle of life. There is a certain calmness about it all. I could settle on the routine of life and I can be sure that life is gonna be ok! :)
Do share with us your creations and link us back here so we can leave you some love.

A Love Affair with Peanut Butter

Hi all! Today I decided to share a layout about a long-time love of mine: Peanut Butter.
I love the stuff. It tastes good with so many things, like apples, celery, ice-cream, bread, crackers, cookies, chocolate... I just love the peanut butter.

When I was a kid my brothers and sisters used to argue over who got to take the first scoop out of a newly opened jar of peanut butter. So when I opened the jar you see in the photo on the layout, I was reminded of that little memory and decided to photograph the peanut butter and create a layout in tribute.

Have you scrapped any of your favorite foods? This was the first page I've done using food as the subject and I had a blast!  I am positive this wont be my last layout on food, that is for sure!

Til next time -

Hot Chocolate

Hello friends,

When we are in our summerhouse we enjoy the rough nature by the northern westcoast. I love being there in autumn and winter when there are not many tourists and everything is peaceful and quiet and all you hear is the wind and waves.

We take many lovely walks but I especially love the walks late in the afternoon just before dusk and I from a distance can smell the burning tree in our fireplace. After those walks we use to sit a while in front of the fireplace having a nice cup of hot chocolate. I just love hot chocolate....This moment of the day is very special to me.

Do you have any special moments of your day which you love more than others?

Hugs,
Kirsten

Lost and found

Hi guys!

Danielle here with another scrap yourself layout.

One of my secrets is that I adore art journaling and always envy the persons who are so good at it. I bought paints, pens, special stamps, inks etc to start art journaling but I never had the courage or thought I was good enough.. yesterday night I just wanted to get messy with paint so I tried my hand at doing a page.

I bought the Pink Paislee parisian album and some refills and I just want to make the jump into doing a combination of scrapbooking and art journaling. Why not? Can I make mistakes? sure! Will that matter? no way.. so I challenge you to just take a jump at whatever you have as a little secret and just do it!!

Here is the 5x7 art journal layout I created using the art supplies I bought for art journaling.

It might not be as artsy as some of the art journaling out there, but I learned there is no right or wrong and.. well I totally like it.. so it makes me happy. Thats the point right?!

Now go think of a little secret and take a chance at it!

Happy creating!

I Love to Dream

Well I didn't intend to use this photo again but when I received these "Prima" papers the other day, I just had to incorporate the photo.  The rose in the photo was a perfect match to the papers.  I must say I do dream a lot.  My head is always in the clouds.  I guess that can be a good thing.  I'm usually dreaming about something positive........dreaming of my next creation.
ENJOY!

Symbol of a Floridian Friendship

Happy Tuesday!
I'm back with another layout from my new and ongoing Florida album.
I thought that creating this layout would be a fun way to remember a detail of my trip and celebrate a special friendship I've had since I was little.
I used the Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday collection on this page.

The journaling reads:
These drinks are a funny representation of our different personalities and our friendship.
February 2011
Starbucks Vanilla Bean Creme = Alia
Starbucks Iced Mocha = Jess
We enjoyed them every day while vacationing in Boca Raton!

Thanks for stopping by!

Bumble Bee

Happy Sunday Everyone....

So... I needed to share one of my very favorite images ever. This chalk drawing was created by my Son at 3 years. He has been getting so good with drawing and taking notice of the small things of life.

Journal:
Almost 4 years old and Mason is getting to be such a good artist. He asked me "Mom-How do you draw a bumble bee?" I said; "Two circles and wings." That is EXACTLY what he did. This drawing makes me smile. Note: rather than a stinger Mason gave his bee sharp teeth. Giggle-!

It is amazing how small people see the world... I try to take this vantage point every chance I can get.

ENJOY-!
